Canada Benefit Payment Dates 2026: CPP, OAS, CCB, GST Credit and Every Federal Payment in One Table
Canadian government benefits do not arrive on one schedule — they follow three different rhythms, and mixing them up is how budgets get surprised. CPP, OAS and GIS land together near the end of the month (next payment: Thursday, November 26, 2026). The Canada Child Benefit arrives around the 20th (next: Friday, November 20, 2026). The quarterly credit most people knew as the GST/HST credit — renamed the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit in July 2026 — pays four times a year. This page puts every major 2026 payment date in one place, verified against the Government of Canada benefits calendar, so you can plan the month in about thirty seconds.
Every 2026 benefit payment date at a glance
| Benefit | How often | Paid by | Remaining 2026 dates |
|---|---|---|---|
| CPP (all CPP benefits) | Monthly | Service Canada | Nov 26, Dec 22 |
| OAS pension + GIS + Allowance | Monthly | Service Canada | Nov 26, Dec 22 |
| Canada Child Benefit (CCB) | Monthly | CRA | Nov 20, Dec 11 |
| Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit (formerly GST/HST credit) | Quarterly | CRA | Paid Oct 5 — next is in January 2027 |
| Ontario Trillium Benefit (Ontario only) | Monthly | CRA for Ontario | Nov 10, Dec 10 |
| Canada Disability Benefit | Monthly | Service Canada | Nov 19, Dec 17 |
| Veteran disability pension | Monthly | Veterans Affairs Canada | Nov 27, Dec 23 |
Two dates matter most for the rest of 2026. December payments come early almost everywhere — CPP and OAS on December 22 instead of the last week, and the CCB on December 11 instead of the 20th — because of the holidays. That also means the gap from the December payment to the late-January payment is the longest of the year, roughly five weeks for CPP and OAS. Households that budget month to month should treat the December deposit as a five-week payment, not a four-week one.
CPP, OAS and GIS: the full 2026 schedule
The Canada Pension Plan, Old Age Security pension, Guaranteed Income Supplement and the OAS Allowance programs all share one calendar. Payments land on the third-to-last business day of most months, which is why the date moves around:
| Month | 2026 payment date | Month | 2026 payment date |
|---|---|---|---|
| January | Wednesday, January 28 | July | Wednesday, July 29 |
| February | Wednesday, February 25 | August | Thursday, August 27 |
| March | Friday, March 27 | September | Friday, September 25 |
| April | Tuesday, April 28 | October | Wednesday, October 28 |
| May | Wednesday, May 27 | November | Thursday, November 26 |
| June | Friday, June 26 | December | Tuesday, December 22 |
How much arrives on those dates depends on your own record. For 2026, the maximum CPP retirement pension for someone starting at 65 is $1,507.65 a month, though most people receive less because the maximum needs close to maximum contributions for about 39 years. The maximum OAS pension for October to December 2026 is $762.50 a month at ages 65 to 74 and $838.75 at 75 and over. A single senior with a full OAS pension and the maximum GIS of $1,138.90 a month receives up to $1,901.40 a month from those two programs alone — and if that same person also had a maximum CPP pension, the combined total would be $3,409.05 a month. Treat that as a ceiling, not a typical outcome: very few people max out all three. Our dedicated guides go deeper on each calendar: CPP payment dates 2026 and OAS payment dates 2026.
Canada Child Benefit: the 2026 dates
The CCB is the CRA’s biggest monthly payment to families, and it follows the simplest rhythm: the 20th of the month, moved earlier when the 20th is a weekend or when December holidays get in the way. The 2026 dates are January 20, February 20, March 20, April 20, May 20, June 19, July 20, August 20, September 18, October 20, November 20 and December 11.
For the benefit year running July 2025 to June 2026, the maximum CCB is $7,997 a year for each child under 6 and $6,748 a year for each child aged 6 to 17, reduced as family net income rises. Amounts are recalculated every July from your latest tax return, which is why filing on time matters even in a year with no tax owing: a late return can pause the CCB, the Groceries and Essentials Benefit and provincial credits all at once.
The GST/HST credit is now the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit
One name change confuses more people than any date on this page. In July 2026 the GST/HST credit became the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit, with amounts increased by 25%. The structure did not change — same eligibility, same quarterly rhythm, same tax-return requirement. The 2026 payments were January 5 and April 2 under the old GST/HST credit name, then July 3 and October 5 under the new name. If a deposit labelled as the Groceries and Essentials Benefit appeared on October 5, that was your quarterly credit, not a new program you applied for.
Ontario Trillium, disability and veterans dates
| Benefit | 2026 pattern | Full 2026 dates |
|---|---|---|
| Ontario Trillium Benefit | The 10th, or the last business day before | Jan 9, Feb 10, Mar 10, Apr 10, May 8, Jun 10, Jul 10, Aug 10, Sep 10, Oct 9, Nov 10, Dec 10 |
| Canada Disability Benefit | Monthly, mid-to-late month | Jan 15, Feb 19, Mar 19, Apr 16, May 21, Jun 18, Jul 20, Aug 20, Sep 17, Oct 15, Nov 19, Dec 17 |
| Veteran disability pension | Monthly, end of month | Jan 29, Feb 26, Mar 30, Apr 29, May 28, Jun 29, Jul 30, Aug 28, Sep 28, Oct 29, Nov 27, Dec 23 |
The Ontario Trillium Benefit combines three Ontario credits — the energy and property tax credit, the Northern Ontario energy credit and the sales tax credit — into one monthly deposit paid by the CRA. The Canada Disability Benefit pays up to $200 a month ($2,400 a year, indexed to inflation) to working-age Canadians who qualify for the Disability Tax Credit. Veterans Affairs Canada pays disability pensions on its own end-of-month calendar, one to two days after the CPP/OAS date in most months.
Timing also interacts with taxes in ways worth planning around. A large December or January RRSP withdrawal, for example, counts as income that can reduce income-tested benefits like GIS the following July. Our guide to the OAS clawback and its $95,323 threshold for 2026 explains where that line sits, and CPP at 60 vs 65 vs 70 shows how your start age changes every payment on the CPP calendar for life.
Common mistakes with benefit payment dates
Assuming every benefit pays on the same day. CPP and OAS share a date; almost nothing else does. The CCB, Trillium and disability benefits each run on their own calendar.
Panicking on the payment date itself. Direct deposit usually lands on the date, but banks post at different times of day, and mailed cheques take longer. Service Canada and the CRA both ask you to wait before reporting a missing payment — for cheques, allow 5 to 10 business days.
Forgetting the December gap. Early December payments feel like a bonus and then January feels short. It is the same money on a longer runway.
Letting a tax return lapse. The CCB, the Groceries and Essentials Benefit, Trillium and the Canada Disability Benefit all depend on a filed return. No return, no recalculation — and eventually, no payment.
Not updating direct deposit or address. A closed bank account or an old address is the most common reason a payment goes missing. Update both in CRA My Account or My Service Canada Account before you move, not after.
Frequently asked questions
What is the next Canada benefit payment date?
From November 3, 2026: the Ontario Trillium Benefit on November 10, the Canada Disability Benefit on November 19, the CCB on November 20, CPP and OAS on November 26, and the veteran disability pension on November 27.
Why do CPP and OAS come early in December 2026?
Service Canada moves the December payment ahead of the holidays: December 22 instead of the last week of the month. The CCB also comes early, on December 11.
Did the GST/HST credit stop in 2026?
No. It was renamed the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit in July 2026 and increased by 25%. The 2026 payment dates were January 5, April 2, July 3 and October 5.
What should I do if a benefit payment does not arrive?
First check the correct calendar for that benefit — many “missing” payments are simply on a different schedule. Then check your direct deposit details. If a cheque is involved, allow 5 to 10 business days after the payment date before contacting the CRA or Service Canada.
Are these benefit payments taxable?
CPP is taxable income. The OAS pension is taxable, while GIS, the CCB, the Groceries and Essentials Benefit, Ontario Trillium and the Canada Disability Benefit are not taxed as income.
Where can I see my own payment amounts and dates?
CRA-administered benefits (CCB, Groceries and Essentials Benefit, Trillium) show in CRA My Account. Service Canada benefits (CPP, OAS, GIS, Canada Disability Benefit) show in My Service Canada Account.
The bottom line
For the rest of 2026, mark five dates: November 10 (Trillium), November 20 (CCB), November 26 (CPP and OAS), December 11 (CCB) and December 22 (CPP and OAS). Everything else on this page fills in around them — and the December dates, not the November ones, are the ones that change how far your money has to stretch.
